Achieve goals faster

3 Ways to Achieve Your Goals Faster

You may be one of the few people who already understand the importance of setting goals. If you don’t have goals today, you may want to read my blog – Setting Goals. For those of you who do, the question now is, “How do I achieve my goals faster?” I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to expedite the process on as many accomplishments as possible. One example is my 4 year old daughter, who continually reminds me and my wife of the things that she will do, “when I get bigger.” She just cannot wait to be able to stay up as late as she wants without a bedtime for example, and that is simply going to take a lot more time than she would like. However, your goals may not be so lofty that you can’t reach them within a reasonable time. Here are just a few tips that could help put you over the top.

#1 Read a Book

“One book could save you 5 years…if you read it.”

Jim Rohn

In a world of smart phones, tablets, YouTube, movies, and much more, it is no surprise that reading is a bit of a lost art. While we can learn a ton of information from videos, there is still so much wisdom in books that may not be translated to video just yet. Also, there is no substitute for a good book and a highlighter that allows you to reference the content repeatedly. If you want to achieve your goals faster, you should learn to read more. I can assure you that there is a book for every goal you want to accomplish.

One of the reasons that we are unable to achieve our goals faster is simply a lack of experience. Most people will tell you that there is no substitute for experience. That would mean that unless you live a certain amount of time, you would have no hope to expedite the achievement of your goals. I have good news, there is a substitute for experience – reading a book. The information available to us at our finger tips is absolutely amazing. If you are using it to socialize, binge on Netflix, and follow your favorite sports team, that is fine. I also want you to consider taking some of that time out to increase your knowledge and gain wisdom from those who have more experience than you. You do that by picking up a book on the topic and reading it.

#2 Take a Course

Another way that you can achieve your goals faster is to take a course on the relevant topic. There are countless resources available for free on platforms such as YouTube. Sometimes, all you need is just one tip to speed things up on your way to reaching your goals. I believe it is even better to make an investment in order to learn valuable information. If you want to be part of the top 10% of successful people, you will do the same. Platforms such as Udemy, offer courses on thousands of topics that can help you achieve your goals much faster starting today. The ultimate investment is your time. It may take an upfront investment of time to sit through a course, but if it saves you 1 year of your life, it should be worth it to you.

#3 Find a Mentor

“One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”

John C. Maxwell

The final way that you can achieve your goals faster is by finding a mentor. A mentor, similar to a book or course, can teach you their experiences and help you overcome challenges. The wonderful thing about mentors is that they can work with you in the trenches. It may take some time to really glean information from a book, although I still highly recommend reading. A course can be a similar experience. You may take an 8 hour course, and find that the most value came in just a 30 minute segment. If you have a mentor, you can always ask the specific question needed in order to help you expedite your life goals.

When you find a mentor, it is important to come with specific questions. You should also have something to write with so you can remember what’s being said. You will want to review your notes often so that the information becomes a part of you. It will be similar when reading books and taking courses. You will only recall a portion of the information unless you use repetition to plant it into your subconscious mind. After you have implemented the 3 ways to achieve your goals faster, you will expedite your ability to succeed in every area of your life.
